_I was not able to appreciate the true essence of education until I finished my college degree. When I was a little girl, I always ask my mom why we need to wake up very early and go to school every day. She told me, “Because this will make you rich”. That answer adds a lot of more questions in my young mind. How will my teacher make me rich? How will the books and pencils help me in getting lots of money? As the time pass by, little by little, I realized what my mother wants me to know. Let me share to you my journey in the quest of finding the reason why we need to study and learn.

I was not born with a golden spoon in my mouth but my parents are doing their very best to give not only my needs but also my wants. When I was in high school, school grants are my companion. I was able to luckily top the class which gave me the opportunity to study in a private school with having to worry about the tuition fee and all. In my very young age, I was able to inculcate in my mind how important school grants and scholarships are. Here are some of the points that I realized.

•    Scholarship gives me the privilege to experience good and quality education. I must admit that the teachers I had in high school helped a lot not only in the academic aspects of my schooling but the ability to lead and communicate with others as well. Through the grant that was given to me, I was able to grow and develop even more.
•    Grants serve as a big aid to my parents. The tuition fee in private schools is not a joke. As a matter of fact, it comes in 5 digits. Only those well-off families have the ability to afford it. But fortunately, scholarship helped me and my parents succeed my high school life without having any financial problems at all.

After I finished my secondary school, I apply for federal grants. But unfortunately, I was not chosen because they say that I came from a great school when I was in high school. I must say that God is really good to me because I was able to spend my college life in a prestige school again, through the help of some school grants.

I can say that grants and scholarships contribute a lot in the success that I am experiencing today. The diploma that I am holding today is the fruit not only of the sacrifices that I have done but also the fruit of the golden hearts that helped me throughout my journey.
